Conference on Economic and Trade Kunming-Latin America

Kunming, August 14, 2025 – Under the guidance of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Commerce and hosted by the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the “The economic and trade conference between Kunming, Latin American and Caribbean countries” was successfully held in Kunming. Centered on the theme “Kunming-LAC Collaboration: Charting New Trade Horizons,” the event established a “blue economic corridor” between the Spring City and Latin America.

The event was presided over by Mr. Zhao Yang, Deputy Director of the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Member of its Leading Party Members Group. Attendees included diplomatic and consular officials from Mexico, Nicaragua, Chile, Peru, and other Latin American countries stationed in China; representatives of business associations; heads of relevant departments from Yunnan Province, Kunming City, and its counties (districts/cities). Together, they explored new cooperation opportunities.

Santiago Toledo, Commercial Counsellor of the Mexican Embassy in China, delivered a keynote presentation on trade and investment opportunities between China and Mexico.

Mr. Victor Cadena, Executive Vice President of MEXCHAM, presented on the trends for bilateral trade and FDI, as well as the opportunities for Chinese companies investing in Mexico.

MEXCHAM look forward more Mexican companies expanding to Yunnan as well as more Yunnan companies expanding to Mexico.
