China is Mexico’s largest 2nd trading partner

Bilateral trade between Mexico and China registered growth in the first half of 2024 of 12.3%, in addition to reaching 20% of total Mexican imports, which makes China as Mexico’s second trading partner, according to figures from the Ministry of Economy(SE) and the Chinese company Meorient International Exhibition.

Of China’s total exports worldwide, Mexico occupies tenth position and represents 2.44% of China’s total exports, being the most important market in Latin America, followed by Brazil, with 1.72%.

In particular, the American continent is a relevant destination for Chinese exports, USA occupies 14.8% of Chinese esportes, compared to include Japan (4.76%) and Germany (4.07%).

One of Mexico’s commercial and competitive advantages is that, according to the SE, it has a network of 14 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with 50 different countries, as well as 30 Agreements for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments. (APPRI) with 31 countries.
