Organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, with the support of the Benito Juárez District Government, and jointly organized by the Huayan Language School and other parties, the event attracted nearly 300 local families, students, and members of the community.
On the day of the event, Minister-Counselor Li Kehai, Education Counselor Wang Yong, and Education Specialist Chen Lan from the Chinese Embassy in Mexico attended. In his speech, Li Kehai fully affirmed the important role of Chinese language education in promoting Sino-Mexican cultural exchange and encouraged more Mexican youth to learn Chinese, gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, and broaden their international horizons.
LAKESIDE, Director General of the General Directorate for Human Development and Substantive Equality, representing the Benito Juárez District Government, stated in his speech that cultural diversity is an important component of urban development. Alberto Bordel Lamas, Principal of the partner school, pointed out that learning Chinese not only improves students’ language skills but also helps them build cross-cultural understanding, opening up broader prospects for future development.
The event featured a rich variety of activities. Students and teachers presented captivating performances including lion dances, kung fu fan demonstrations, and erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument), earning enthusiastic applause from the audience. Several traditional Chinese cultural experience activities also attracted numerous Mexican families.
The organizers stated that in recent years, the influence of Chinese language in Mexico has been steadily increasing, with more and more local families paying attention to and participating in Chinese language learning. International Chinese Language Day is not only a cultural showcase but also an important platform for people-to-people exchanges between China and Mexico. In the future, Huayan Language School will continue to work with various parties to promote Chinese language education and cultural dissemination in Mexico, enabling more people to understand China through language and build connections through culture.
