CRCC-controlled Aldesa wins USD 187M rail project in Mexico

Recently, the contract for the design and construction of supporting facilities for the Queretaro-Irapuato passenger railway in Mexico was finalized. The winning bidder was a consortium comprised of Spanish construction company Aldesa (controlled by China Railway Construction Corporation) and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, with a contract value of approximately EUR 160 million (approximately RMB 1.281 billion). The project attracted bids from five consortia, with only two reaching the final round. Simultaneously, Aldesa also secured a contract in the Spanish market, with its consortium winning the contract for the construction of the high-speed rail technical station in the Lastabras district of Madrid, with a contract value of EUR 47 million (approximately RMB 376 million).The five consortia bidding for the project offered prices ranging from MXN 3.1 billion to MXN 4.64 billion (approximately RMB 1.214 billion to RMB 1.817 billion). The consortium of Spanish infrastructure company Aldesa (controlled by China Railway Construction Corporation) and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation submitted the second-lowest bid of MXN 3.28 billion (approximatelyM RMB 1.285 billion), receiving a perfect score of 50 in the price evaluation. Only two consortia advanced to the final round. The Mexican consortium GAMI and the Spanish consortium Azvi had a higher technical score but also a higher bid, ultimately losing out by a margin of 4.51 points in the overall evaluation.

The Queretaro-Irapuato passenger railway is a major infrastructure project promoted by the Mexican government. The line is 108.2 kilometers long, connecting the states of Queretaro and Guanajuato, with a total investment capped at approximately MXN 125 billion (about RMB 48.99 billion). This double-track, non-electrified railway is designed for a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour. The line primarily utilizes embankments and elevated structures, and includes multiple stations along its route, providing fast and convenient passenger services to cities along the line.
