  • 9th February 2026

EMA President Eugenio Grandio and GAC International President Wei Haigang officially signed the company’s articles of association

GAC Mexico has officially joined the Electro Mobility Association (EMA) as part of its strategy to strengthen electric vehicle development, which is achieved through its 100% electric brand AION and by participating in initiatives aimed at promoting electric vehicle adoption, infrastructure deployment, and creating market conditions for low-emission technologies.

EMA President Eugenio Grandio emphasized that GAC Group’s participation will strengthen cooperation within the industry. “EMA warmly welcomes GAC Group to our side. Their long-term vision, commitment to next-generation technologies, and growing influence in Mexico will strengthen Mexico’s electric mobility ecosystem.”

Since entering the Mexican market two years ago, GAC Group has been pursuing an electrification strategy centered on its pure electric brand AION. AION has achieved global sales exceeding one million units and ranks among the best-selling electric vehicle brands in the Chinese market. Currently, AION offers three pure electric models in Mexico: AION Y, AION ES, and AION UT, aiming to further expand its market share in this segment.

“GAC Mexico’s accession to the Electro Mobility Association (EMA) is an important strategic move to strengthen its market position and accelerate the development of electric mobility in Mexico. The EMA is a key partner for us to work together to promote the future development of mobility in Mexico.”

With this new member, the EMA expands its network to 25 companies, strengthening its role as a platform for dialogue and multi-sectoral cooperation to promote public policy, develop charging infrastructure, and create market conditions to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Mexico.
