In the first two months of 2026, domestic light vehicle sales reached 250,076 units, a 4.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025, equivalent to an increase of 10,521 units. This result confirms the continued recovery of domestic automobile consumption and reflects the automotive industry’s ability to maintain sales growth amidst technological changes and increasingly fierce international competition.
These data, including both domestically produced and imported vehicles, comprehensively reflect the performance of the domestic market. The automotive industry remains the cornerstone of Mexico’s industrial economy, directly impacting manufacturing, supply chains, logistics, and specialized trade.
The report also notes that new car brands under Geely Automobile Mexico, such as Zeerk and Lynk & Co, have entered the Mexican market, and their registration data will be included in the statistics starting in January 2026. This expansion of the product portfolio reflects the growing interest of global manufacturers in participating in the Mexican automotive market.
The cumulative growth to 2026 indicates that the Mexican automotive industry continues its expansion in domestic sales, thanks to an increasingly diverse selection of models and a robust supply chain, making Mexico one of North America’s major automotive hubs.
