Mexico received a delegation made up of 15 Chinese Taiwanese companies specializing in electric vehicles, with the aim of positioning their solutions in Latin America and evaluating investment opportunities. In addition to Mexico, the businessmen will visit Guatemala, Brazil and Paraguay. The mission was organized by the Taiwan Foreign Trade Development Board (TAITRA). Kate Chen, executive director of TAITRA Mexico, explained that this initiative seeks to “strengthen commercial ties from our region in Latin America and open spaces for interaction between Chinese Taiwanese companies and local partners.”

The participating companies offer batteries, auto parts, accessories, ultrasonic machinery, electric vehicles and sustainable mobility technologies. These include Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corporation, HEBE Company, IMEIER Green Technology, Ming Jilee Enterprise, and Tron Energy Technology. Goldie Lee, senior project manager at TAITRA, stressed that the firms’ interest lies in the growth of the Chinese Taiwanese electromobility market: “Nowadays, electric vehicles are a key issue in relation to the environment. With this mission we want to promote the arrival of electrical solutions from China Taiwan to Mexico and help our suppliers identify opportunities in this market.”

Of the 15 companies in the delegation, five participated directly in the event in Mexico, while the remaining ten shared catalogs and informative material about their products. The offer covered energy storage cells and systems, charging solutions, machinery, electronics and auto parts for electric vehicles.

Investment on the way

As for future projects, Lee said that two of the companies are already evaluating establishing operations in the country, focused on energy and charging systems. In addition, another supplier, part of a large Chinese Taiwanese industrial group, is analyzing the possibility of installing a plant in Mexico to meet the demand in the electricity and electric passenger vehicle sector. Among the most relevant announcements was Tron Energy Technology, which expressed its interest in investing in Mexico. Fernando Kuo, the company’s business development manager, explained that the company is contemplating the installation of an electric bus assembly plant, with the aim of marketing them in the country and also exporting them to the United States and China Taiwan and part of Central America.
