BYD Reaches 13 Million NEVs,industry leader

  • 30th July 2025

BYD has officially become the first automaker in the world to produce 13 million new energy vehicles (NEVs), marking the milestone with the rollout of a YANGWANG U7 luxury sedan.

The company reached the 13 million units just eight months after surpassing the 10 million mark, a dramatic acceleration compared to the 13 years it took to produce its initial million. BYD classifies NEVs as fully electric vehicles or those equipped with its proprietary Super Hybrid DM (Dual Mode) technology.

“Shifting our entire lineup to electrified powertrains has significantly boosted demand worldwide,” the company said in an official statement, highlighting the increasing global embrace of sustainable transportation.

During the first half of 2025, BYD sold 2,145,954 NEV passenger vehicles globally, including 470,086 units in overseas markets — a 128.5% increase year over year. This surge reflects BYD’s expanding international presence beyond its domestic base.

The YANGWANG U7, part of BYD’s premium sub-brand YANGWANG, features cutting-edge technologies such as the DiSus-Z (Yunnian-Z) intelligent body control system, the e⁴ platform, a horizontally opposed motor configuration, and rear-wheel steering. These innovations enhance the vehicle’s performance, handling, stability, and safety.

“YANGWANG targets the luxury NEV segment and is steadily gaining traction among consumers and media alike,” BYD concluded.
