According to the Automotive Investment Report from Cluster Industrial B2B, Nuevo León accumulated US$1.4 billion from January to September 2025, representing 47.4% of Mexico’s total, with 14 projects, 3,800 jobs, and 117,751 square meters of new construction. The state led national investment in 3Q25, highlighting its role as a manufacturing hub amid global slowdown, USMCA renegotiation uncertainty, and tariff tensions. From July to September, Mexico secured US$953.91 million, down 83.75% YoY, with direct automotive projects at US$672.49 million, focusing on electromobility, aluminum components, and electronic systems.
Nationally, Mexico’s automotive sector recorded US$5.75 billion across 160 projects in the first nine months, a 57.68% decline in value but 1.27% increase in total investments, shifting toward technology-driven manufacturing, electric systems, and industrial infrastructure. Nuevo León outpaced states like San Luis Potosí (US$299.45 million), Guanajuato (US$262.12 million), and Coahuila (US$227.44 million). Investments originated primarily from China, South Korea, and Japan, with U.S. and European firms in metal manufacturing and services.
Key projects in Monterrey included Xiamen Intretech’s US$60 million plant in Apodaca for automotive mirrors, IoT devices, and navigation systems, spanning 44,000 square meters and employing 2,000 workers. Company representatives stated the plant will support “electronic components and integrated systems for global platforms.” In Pesquería, Steelform invested US$60 million in a 36,700-square-meter facility for speaker frames, mufflers, bumpers, and high-strength metal components, “strengthening supply capabilities for chassis and seating structures.”
Service operations expanded with Kia México opening a recruitment center in Apodaca and a 2,500-square-meter parts distribution warehouse in Salinas Victoria. The company noted both facilities “integrate into existing production and logistics activities to improve workforce and supply-chain response times.” Nuevo León’s investment dynamics reflect a focus on technological innovation and sustainable manufacturing, driving Mexico’s automotive sector adaptation to global shifts.
