MLS Mexico Invests USD261M in Durango LED factory

MLS México, the Mexican subsidiary of MLS, a  Chinese LED lighting company headquartered in Foshan, Guangdong Province, announced a $261.7 dollars million investment to build a productive and technological complex in La Laguna, Durango. The global LED lighting leader, specializing in precision technological solutions and components for supply chains, will operate in three phases: phase one starting February 2026 with initial facilities and 200 jobs; phase two industrial expansion in 2026-2027; phase three a high-volume Engineering and Development Center from 2028-2030. The project aims to supply the U.S. market and expand operations in Mexico, chosen for Durango’s competitive environment.

Expected impacts include 3,500 direct jobs and attraction of specialized value chains, enhancing Durango’s industrial competitiveness. MLS global vice president Liu Bruce stated: “This will be the most important plant for the company in Mexico, due to its potential to supply the United States market.” Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal highlighted the project’s role in boosting formal employment, economic spillovers, and technological modernization, citing available talent, energy, intergovernmental coordination, and regional logistics.
