By the end of 2025, the State of Mexico remains the second most important economy in terms of contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with 9.1% of the national total.These figures, released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), indicate that the State of Mexico recorded an annual growth of 2.1% in 2024, higher than the 1.4% achieved at the national level.The head of the Secretariat of Economic Development, Laura González, emphasized that, while all three sectors of the economy show positive figures, the 1.9% rebound in the primary or agricultural sector stands out, which had not seen an increase for several years.Regarding the secondary sector, which includes manufacturing, it grew by 2.9% compared to the previous year, due to progress in manufacturing and construction. Similarly, the tertiary or services sector increased by 1.9%.
