Mexico could attract more than $20.63 billion in direct investment in data centers

  • 29th July 2026

In 2026, the Mexican Data Center Association (MEXDC) projected robust investment growth for Mexico’s digital infrastructure sector. Driven by the expansion of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and nearshoring trends, Mexico is poised to attract massive capital inflows into its data center industry.

Massive investment to consolidate Mexico’s Latin American digital hub status

According to official projections, Mexico will attract more than $20.63 billion in direct investment and $61.89 billion in indirect investment by 2031, strongly consolidating its position as a key technology and digital hub across Latin America.

Supporting industrial digitization as core infrastructure

The data center sector has become a cornerstone of Mexico’s digital transformation, empowering the upgrading of manufacturing, financial services, e-commerce, healthcare, education and telecommunications. Its growth relies on a coordinated multi-industry ecosystem rather than simple infrastructure construction.

Expanding computing capacity supports long-term development

Mexico currently maintains stable installed data center capacity, with multiple projects under construction and massive new capacity announced for the next five years. The expanding digital infrastructure will enhance the growing demands of AI computing and cross-border industrial development.

Cross-industry collaboration supports the data center ecosystem

Data center operation depends on coordinated support from multiple industrial segments, including engineering design, construction, power supply, cooling systems, hardware manufacturing, telecommunications, talent training and government supervision.

Over 190 enterprises drive industrial vitality

The Mexican Data Center Association comprises more than 190 enterprises, including operators and professional service providers offering over 70 specialized services. The industrial cluster fuels foreign investment, high-end job creation and digital economic growth.

In-depth collaboration builds leading regional data center market

Strengthened cooperation among technology firms, energy suppliers, educational institutions and authorities will accelerate infrastructure construction, meet surging digital service demands, and help Mexico grow into one of the leading data center markets in Latin America.
