Mexico in INA PAACE Automechanika as a leading role

  • 21st July 2025

During the inauguration of the 27th edition of the INA PAACE Automechanika, industry representatives highlighted the relevance of the event as the main platform in Latin America for the aftermarket and original equipment. The fair brings together more than 637 exhibitors in 28,000 square meters and expects to receive 30,000 visitors.

Francisco González, president of the National Auto Parts Industry (INA), recalled that in 1998 Messe Frankfurt bet on Mexico to organize the first edition of the event. A decade later, INA launched ExpoINA and in 2015 both organizations decided to integrate efforts. Since 2016, a joint edition has been presented under this format.

Mexico, a power in the production of auto parts

“We share the same vision of integration and competitiveness of our industry,” said González, who stressed that this trajectory has been possible thanks to a “supportive and growing” industry. According to data presented, the Mexican auto parts industry currently produces 121 billion dollars a year. For his part, Vidal Llerenas, Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce of the Ministry of Economy, pointed out that the automotive and auto parts industry not only represents one of the main export sectors of the country, but is also a consolidated national industry. “We are world leaders in the production of auto parts and vehicles. This industry has been built with allies from the United States, Canada, France, Japan, among others. It is a Mexican industry,” he said.

Electromobility and innovation, challenges for the auto parts sector

Llerenas added that the Secretariat maintains a permanent working table with the sector, focused on solving challenges such as tariff issues and attracting new investments. He also mentioned the challenges linked to electromobility, software and innovation, and stated that the government seeks to accompany this evolution with policies that strengthen competitiveness. On behalf of Messe Frankfurt, Olaf Musshoff, Director of AUTOMECHANIKA, acknowledged the growth of the exhibition and highlighted the interest of companies in participating. “I toured the show floor and it’s evident how the entire industry connects. The companies are focused on e-commerce solutions, electromobility, diagnostics, new technologies and sustainability,” he said. One of the axes of this edition is education, given the need to develop new technical skills for the sector. According to the organizers, the event also promotes the formation of alliances, the opening of markets and the strengthening of value chains.
