From June 3 to 5, 2026, to celebrate International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, the “Dialogue · Kindred Spirits” series was successfully held in Mexico City. The events were co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, the Sino-Foreign Cultural and Tourism Exchange Center, the China Cultural Center in Mexico, the China Conservatory of Music, and the Mexico City Cultural Bureau.

“National Rhythm, New Style” Chinese new works chamber music concert staged

On June 3, the concert was held at the Benito Juarez Theater in Mexico City. Zhu Jian, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, Polevinsky, Chair of the Asia-Pacific Foreign Affairs Committee of the Mexican Federal Senate, Vazquez, Chair of the Mexico-China Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Mexican Federal Chamber of Deputies, and Lopez, Director of the Mexico City Cultural Bureau, attended the event and delivered remarks. Artists from the China Conservatory of Music performed Chinese chamber works with classic charm and contemporary creativity, including Ambush from All Sides, Flying Partridges and Butterfly Lovers. The performance received long-lasting applause from the live audience.

Chinese and Mexican artists perform jointly for cross-cultural artistic dialogue

A special artistic dialogue session between Chinese and Mexican artists was featured at the concert. A pianist from the China Conservatory of Music and a Mexican violinist performed the Chinese piece Pastoral together, carrying out cross-border artistic exchange through melody. Teenagers from China and Mexico collaborated seamlessly with artists from the China Conservatory of Music to perform the classic Mexican song Cielito Lindo. The performance resonated with the audience, who joined the chorus and brought the concert to a climax.

Lectures and workshops on Chinese traditional instruments convey Chinese musical connotation

On June 4 and June 5, the China Conservatory of Music held themed lectures and workshops titled History and Evolution of traditional Chinese musical instruments at the Mexican National Art Center and the Tene Municipal Cultural and Art Center respectively. Adopting a “lecture + performance” format, the events systematically introduced traditional Chinese instruments such as the dizi, guqin, pipa and ruan, paired with excerpts of classic pieces to help the audience understand the cultural connotation and aesthetic spirit of Chinese national music. The audience participated actively in on-site interactions, with a friendly and warm communication atmosphere.
