JAC expanded its Hidalgo plant in Mexico

Economic cooperation between China and Mexico is being deepened through JAC Motors’ expansion plans in Mexico. Jac Motors Mexico is accelerating the pace of its development by expanding its plant in Ciudad Sahagun, Hidalgo state, and renovating new production space to assemble its line of light commercial vehicles and heavy trucks.

The investment will boost production capacity at JAC’s Mexico plant by more than 30% and further strengthen its production capacity in SUV and pickup models, including internal combustion engine and electric versions. Plant General Manager Martin Gutierrez said they have started renovating the new production space for the assembly of light commercial vehicles and heavy truck series. This investment will significantly increase capacity and support it in meeting the needs of the Mexican market for years to come.

Isidoro Massri, General Manager of JAC Motors Mexico, further noted that the expansion plan was set to start in April 2024 and the annual production capacity is expected to reach 60,000 units. That target is closely in line with the company’s sales target for the year of 30,000 vehicles, a significant increase from 23,000 previously. “We are adding new production lines to meet the needs of the Mexican market and to prepare for our growth goals in the next five to seven years,” Massri stressed.

In addition, the new production line is highly flexible and can produce from electric to internal combustion engine models, covering light and heavy vehicles. Starting in the second half of 2024, the plant will operate simultaneously in both production areas to further improve production efficiency and expand capacity. “We are ready to meet this challenge by establishing the new facility as a flexible manufacturing site for the assembly of the X-Series, K7 and Sunray models,” Mr. Gutierrez wrote on LinkedIn.
