JAC Motors’ growth in Mexico

  • 14th April 2026

Giant Motors Latinoamérica, the Mexican company that assembles Chinese brand JAC Motors, celebrated the ninth anniversary of its plant in Sahagún, Hidalgo. The plant currently produces over 30,000 vehicles annually, with a total capacity exceeding 60,000 vehicles per year.

When JAC Motors started its business in Mexico, it produced about 1,000 vehicles per year. In less than a decade, the company increased its assembly output 30 times and strengthened its production infrastructure, now producing a car every four minutes.

Mexico’s production capacity and industrial expansion

Currently, the factory has eight operating production lines capable of assembling 17 different car models. This configuration gives it an annual production capacity of over 60,000 vehicles, leaving room for future expansion of production in the country.

The business’s growth is also reflected in job creation. The assembly plant directly employs more than 1,000 people, while the brand’s dealer and service network provides more than 4,000 jobs nationwide.

The operation of Sahagún City is part of the company’s strategy to consolidate its industrial position in Mexico, as the country continues to position itself as one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturing platforms.

JAC Mexico stated that it will continue to strengthen its production operations and distribution network in Mexico, with the goal of keeping its products in line with the Mexican automotive market and consolidating its position in the industry.
