Mario Delgado, head of the Ministry of Public Education, signed the Cooperation Agreement for Higher Education with Huai Jinpeng, the Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China, to promote academic exchanges, best practices, and the development of joint projects. During the event, held in the historic office of the first Minister of Education, José Vasconcelos, Minister Mario Delgado expressed that “the agreement will lay the foundation for innovative initiatives and high-impact projects that will transcend and have a positive impact on the student and academic communities of both countries.”
The agreement signed by the educational authorities details the promotion of actions that facilitate the linkage between higher education institutions, contributing to educational advancement for both Mexico and the People’s Republic of China. A dialogue and cooperation mechanism will be established to foster talent development and promote the sharing of best practices identified in both educational systems to design teacher training programs.
Furthermore, the agreement highlights mobility and exchange of students and researchers in areas particularly related to science, technology, innovation, mathematics, and engineering, as well as joint activities in relevant projects and academic events. This common vision facilitates the bonds of friendship and cooperation between two nations that share an interest in the development of their students, thanks to the establishment of good diplomatic relations between Mexico and China, which is backed by the Cultural Exchange Agreement signed in Beijing in 1978, the Mutual Recognition Agreement of Study Certificates, Diplomas, and Academic Degrees signed in Mexico City in 2010, and the recent meeting held during the G-20 between President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and President Xi Jinping.
