Mexico leads Latin America in startup funding

  • 24th July 2026

Crunchbase data on Latin American startup funding shows that Mexico-based companies raised more venture capital than their Brazilian counterparts in three of the past four quarters, including Q2 2026. Leading Silicon Valley investors, including Founders Fund and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), have anchored major investment deals across the region.

Mexican startup funding surges to lead Latin America

Mexican startups took a prominent lead across Latin America in Q2 2026. The funding raised by Mexican startups during the quarter nearly matched the total capital raised by Latin American startups in Q2 2025. Notably, Mexico was home to the region’s three largest fundraising deals in the quarter ending June 30, 2026.

Brazilian startup funding fluctuates amid a shifting regional landscape

Brazil-headquartered startups recorded a slight year-on-year decline and a moderate quarter-on-quarter recovery in funding in Q2 2026, widening the funding gap between Brazil and Mexico.

Latin American VC market rebounds, driven by late-stage funding

The Latin American venture market maintained an upward trend in Q2 2026. A surge in late-stage and growth funding boosted the region’s overall performance, with mature startups attracting the majority of major capital inflows.

Early-stage deal volume declines temporarily

Angel, seed and early-stage deal counts declined both sequentially and year over year in Q2 2026. However, industry insiders expect the figures to rise moderately in subsequent updates, as seed rounds are often reported weeks or months after they officially close.
