By the end of 2024, the automotive industry expects new car sales to have increased by 10.4%, according to Cristina Vázquez, coordinator of Economic Studies of the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA). At a press conference, he stressed that the estimate is based on the calculation that by the last month of this year, 1 million 506,041 units had been sold in the country.
Inegi records indicate that up to November, 1,350,362 new automobiles have been sold in Mexico, representing an increase of 10.7%.
According to Vázquez, in November alone, the sale of non-road vehicles reached 147,971 units. The SUV and light truck segments continued to post record sales of 60,450 and 25,301 units, respectively. After these segments, subcompact and compact cars registered the highest sales, with 32,056 and 26,367 units, respectively. Finally, luxury and sports cars completed the sales records, with 2,911 and 764 units sold last month.
