RECAP: Seminar Investing in Mexico (Shenzhen)

On June 20th, 2024, Seminar Investing in Mexico—GBA Talk·Set Sail, Win the Future·Enter Mexico was held in Shenzhen, China.

This seminar was co-organized by Mexican Chamber of Commerce in China (MEXCHAM), along with Shenzhen Federation of Industry & Commerce, Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance, Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, Qianhai; PWC; Terra Regia; Qianhai Belt & Road Legal Services Federation and China Commercial Lam Lee Lai (Qianhai) Law Firm.

This seminar began with the welcome speech delivered by Fion Lin, Managing Partner and Head of Overseas Finance of China Commercial Lam Lee Lai (Qianhai) Law Firm.

Then Zhang Lijun, Managing Partner of PWC, delivered a speech. He elaborated on Mexico’s favourable conditions in terms of geographic location, trade policy and supply chain system.

Afterwards, Daniel Dominguez, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Mexico in Guangzhou, introduced the opportunities and advantages of investing in Mexico, and deeply analysed the investment environment, policy advantages and market potential of Mexico.

Followed by Victor Cadena, Executive Vice President of Mexican Chamber of Commerce in China (MEXCHAM), he shared the latest trends in trade and investment between China and Mexico, pointing out that there is huge room for cooperation between the two sides in a number of fields such as automobile manufacturing, agriculture, clean energy, E-commerce among others, and encouraging enterprises to seize the opportunity to deepen cooperation.

Then Edgar Ahrens, Adriana Rodriguez, Jiang Kai and Li Weijia from PWC analysed in detail the tax issues that Chinese enterprises should pay attention to when investing overseas in Mexico from a tax point of view. The topic was “Tax Compliance and Planning Considerations for Chinese Enterprises ‘Going Overseas'”.

Afterwards, Liu Tanghua, Terra Regia’s China Manager, introduced the development status of Terra Regia Industrial Park and its deep cooperation with Chinese enterprises, showing how the park has become a bridgehead for Chinese enterprises to enter the Mexican and even Latin American markets.

Followed by Max He, OEM Mobile Phone Project Executive of COPPEL Group, he introduced Coppel Group to the audience, gave an in-depth explanation of trading between China and Mexico.

Finnaly, Liu Bo, Deputy General Manager of Property Development Centre of Man Wah Holdings, shared the successful cases and insights of the enterprise’s investment in Mexico, and provided the participating enterprises with the paths and strategies to learn from through practical experience.

The seminar ended with Q & A.
