In the first three months of this year, Mexico ushered in major development opportunities in the field of green transportation. Yadea company, a Chinese world-renowned electric two-wheeler manufacturer, announced that it will spend about US$80 million to build a production base in Okoyoacacz, Mexico, and is expected to provide 200 formal jobs. The decision was disclosed by Jaime Gutiérrez Casas, general director of Coordination of Economic Development and Competitiveness of the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco), at a recent seminar on “Nearshoring: Opportunity for the insurance sector in the State of Mexico”.
According to Gutiérrez, in order to deepen the layout of the Latin American market, this Chinese company has established Mexico as a regional operation hub. It is worth noting that the investment scale of the project has significantly expanded compared with the initial plan – from a basic budget of US$40 million, and after multiple rounds of consultations, it has increased to a cumulative investment of US$78.6 million in five years. In addition to direct employment, the completion of the new factory will also drive the development of supporting industrial chains, form a radiation effect, and promote the construction of the local new energy transportation ecological system.
As a strategic location, the state also has an important logistics hub status which is not only an important node in the Felipe International Airport Economic Corridor, but also builds a complete investor guarantee system through the scientific planning of the seven major economic functional areas. The state government has provided solid guarantees for the implementation of multinational enterprises through a combination of measures such as optimizing the business environment and strengthening security measures.
