NUEVO LEON – Amazon Mexico inaugurated its second shipping center, located in the state of Nuevo Leon, accumulating an investment of more than US$195 million in the state as part of its expansion project in the country.
The space opened its doors with the objective of continuing to offer a great shopping experience to customers, while supporting the strengthening of the local economy and fostering the growth of small and medium-sized companies in e-commerce.
Currently, the company supports more than 1,300 direct jobs and more than 1,500 indirect jobs. The new shipping center will generate more than 300 jobs.
The Governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Garcia, and the Chief Operating Officer of Amazon Mexico, Diego Mendez de la Luz, were in charge of leading the inauguration event.
The new shipping center is located in the municipality of Apodaca, has an area of 35,860 square meters, equivalent to six professional soccer fields, and can store more than 900,000 products of different sizes.
The space also includes areas dedicated to large products such as mattresses, bicycles and kayaks, which will provide greater flexibility in the storage and handling of merchandise.
Nuevo León has two shipping centers, a sorting center and three delivery stations in the state. Currently, Amazon already has 12 shipping centers in the country and 24 strategically distributed delivery stations.
“I am sure that next year there are going to be more Amazon stores, more shipping centers, there are going to be more products covered by the USMCA, and we are going to continue breaking, next year, the records we made in 2024,” said Governor Garcia.
Amazon Mexico’s Chief Operating Officer, Diego Méndez de la Luz, underscored Amazon’s commitment to the region and its determination to be a key ally for Mexican entrepreneurs.
“We are very excited about this inauguration that reinforces our commitment to the creation of new jobs in Nuevo Leon, where we want to continue contributing to the local economy and to the personal and professional development of our employees by offering a workspace with the highest standards of technology and quality,”said Mendez de la Luz.
